Bibity Bob a Habib

This goes out to all of our troops in Iraq and Afganistan. I hope our loyal Arab Americans take no offense, but I know this will put a smile on the faces of our men and women at war. I may offer this one to "John Boy and Billy in the Morning." It is a song that's sung to the tune of "Bibity Bobity Boo" from Disney's "Cinderella."

Jihad in Bagdad
Bin Laden's a raghead
Bibity Bob a Habib
Seven-eleven, Convenient, Quick Stop
Bibity Bob a Habib
You need a bur-ee-toe
Just grab what you want and go
The cashier Rasheed he know what you need
It's Bibity Bob a Habib
So if you are tired, hungry or thirsty go to your local quick stop
You need a slurpy, a dog and some chips
Bibity Bob a Ha
Bibity Bob a Ha
Bibity Bob a Habib
HEY!!!!!!

Barack's Manhood

With the newly elected Barack Obama setting up his new cabinet and the riggers of the campaign slowly wearing down, he is now going to have more time for his wife and family. Her husband still exhausted Michelle Obama was asked how she knew if her husband might be "in the mood". She replied, "I check with the same instrument a meteorologist uses. He uses it for the weather and for Barack Obama use a barometer.

The Best Thing About Music

One afternoon about 25 years ago I was in town for our annual Christmas Show (which is still a tradition in Steubenville....This year it will be at the Spot Bar)well, back to 25 years ago. I was having a couple of afternoon beers at a place called The Pastime Inn and got into a friendly discussion with an older gentleman who played upright bass in a country and bluegrass band. The vetern bassist said, "There's women, free booze, drugs, love of the music, hell, there's even a little money. I know what it is for me. What do you love the most about music?" The way he looked at me when he asked made the question almost magical. I really had never gave it any thought so I thought, quite deeply. Then I just started to talk, "You'll be on stage playing it tight. The band would be tight. You had a good crowd. Only on rare occassions can it possibly get better. When that happens you get a high that is so extreme it is of Shamanistic preportions, you lose all concepts of any self-identity becoming part of a larger whole. The landscape(for lack of a better word)of this area cannot be humanly described. When the song is nearing it's end you return to the here and now, tight band. Somehow tighter than usual. Yeah, I love stepping over that line from time to time." The old bass man softly said, "Good answer." I never did find out what is was for him.

Keeping Your Sanity

I lost my mother before I could drive

At 36 my brother wasn't alive

But I did keep my father til he was 75

By that time I could really jump and jive

I started classical music at the age of 4

But let me tell you there was much more

I could read music before writing

But I couldn't remember

Tears streaming and fighting

Trying to escape my brother's anal reaming

Hand over my mouth to quiet my screaming

The 16 years that memory was repressed

He taught me keyboard moves only known by the best

I transfered that learning to guitar and bass

Then one day that memory hit me in the face

That same day he met me crying in the sun

Apologizing and saying he'd never touch my son

I believed him without doubt

I knew he was true

My son loved his uncle more than anyone he knew

I worked and played music all of my life

I was playing the day I met my wife

I even played in prison and escaped everyday

While playing an instrument it seemed I was away

It saved me then as it saves me now

Two times through chemo

You might wonder how

We all need a giver of strenght

To give life some sanity if not some length
